The latest news...

So I tried to make a tie which did not go well at all.  I think I used too difficult of a fabric to work with on my first attempt.  Then I made 1 flower from a pattern that comes with a ton of different styles.  It's not exactly semetrical but I like to think of it as eccentric and if I keep practicing they'll be less eccentric.  It was also my first attempt at beading.

Then I made a purse from a pattern I have.  I had made the version with fabric ties for handles before anthis time used bamboo handles.  I was so happy with how it turned out, that I made another.

From the begining

I started this blog as just a fun way to document my hobbies of sewing and knitting. Sewing was something I had wanted to learn for a long time. I tried to learn for years on and old Brother. It was constantly breaking, I can only assume because of the the way I was threading it. Finally I just went to Target and bought the simplest Singer they sold and have been sewing ever since. Most of the patterns are easy enough to follow and if not, http://www.youtube.com/ never let's me down.
I learned to knit while working as a photojournalist for a small newspaper near Sacramento. I walked in to a knitty boutique for a story and before I knew it the owner had me sitting on a couch and learning to knit myself. I have been ever since.
I'm still learning new levels of difficulty with both, which is why it's still fun. Anyway, here are some pictures of my favorite items up to date.
