Today I received a message on my etsy from some one who had purchased a Peter Pan hat from me.  I always wonder who my products are going to and what they are used for.  This email brought a smile to my face and made me proud to have contributed to something I support so much.  Thank you Jo for making my day! Just wanted to let you know the Peter Pan hat has arrived today, Thank you.
My daughter Paige does Ballet, she won a scholarship for ballet this year, she dances in eisteddfods, she is currently learning a new dance called Tinker Bell, Paige is Tinker Bell, and the hat is used as a prop in the dance.

Paige was very excited to receive her hat today.

100th Post: Ode to the Peter Pan Hat

This is my 100th Post! Who would have thought I'd have so much to say? ;) Well I have some projects I've been working on but cannot show until they are given as gifts so it'll be just a bit longer.  In the meantime, I had a little fun with my number one selling item: The Peter Pan Hat. 

I have to admit I've become completely addicted to the show, "Once Upon a Time." Captain Hook has now been introduced and I am beside myself with excitement. He is my favorite character now!  I also took a trip to the Walt Disney Family Museum and they have some amazing merchandise there.  Trust me I looked at all of it.  So anyway, here is a little artwork in honor of Peter Pan, fairytales and that far far away land.

I like the first one better because it shows the hat more, but the 2nd one I feel looks more natural.

Christmas Stockings

I know it's not even Halloween yet, but since sewing takes time, I'm trying to stock up for the holidays in advance. According to sellers, the holidays are the busiest time of the year for Etsy. I am going to make items as I go. So far I made a few non-traditional stockings. I saw the idea in a book at the fabric store. If I'm going to sell stockings, they need to be unique.

Mommy and Me Matching Halloween Aprons

Ok I'll admit, I made these aprons out of a mistake. I bought the fabric and clearly wasn't paying too much attention when I cut it for a full length apron, because I had cut it with the design displayed vertically, when it was intended to be horizontal. So I ended up making one adult apron and a child's to match. I should have probably done this a lot earlier in the month since Halloween is right around the corner. It may be hard to sell now. but I can ship it ASAP ;0)

How to Gather Tutorial

Hello everyone! I have been very busy getting a head start on my Christmas projects, not to mention Halloween costume. I will be sharing some Christmas projects shortly. I will be saving most so that their recipients don't see them until Christmas.  But today was such an amazing day for me because not only did my Giants advance and make history, I also made history by blowing my previous sales record out of the water completely!  Today my etsy had a truly successful day and it felt awesome. Now, I know I've been talking about tutorial videos forever. So I have just completed the first installment, inspired by a fellow sewing fan.  I posted it on youtube, to see if I get anymore blog traffic as a result too.  Here it is:

Frisbee Golf Bag

Hello again my bloggy readers.  I have finished this bag for my boyfriend. He likes to play frisbee golf with his friends. I have gone twice and am horrible. It's still fun though. I might need to pump some iron so my disc makes it a little further. So my boyfriend asked me to make him a bag to hold his frisbees. He came with me to the fabric store and picked out a fabric that he wanted. I have a bunch of fleece in my sewing room, so I used that as the sturdy lining. It was really easy to cut without a pattern. I first cut a large piece on the fold for the outside, then side panels to expand when neccessary. I used fabric dividers on the inside to separate the drivers, mid-range and putter discs. I chose velcro for the flap, that can either close or hang the over the opposite side for easy access. Halloween Corset for Witch or Vampire Costume

I knew I wanted to make this for Halloween and hopefully to sell on my etsy.  When I found this fabric, I fell in love with it. I also bought some for a cute apron, which I now regret since my car is sucking up my money faster than bystanders chasing after tossed out money during a high speed chase. If you didn't see that on the news (It's a lot at a very rapid rate.) So hopefully this month starts going better, cuz shit, I'm over this bs.  Btw I'm quickly becoming a corset backing freak and will probably find a way to put it on all types of projects from here on out.

A Line Tea Length Green Dress

This past Saturday brought the wedding of a coworker and with it, the need of a dress to wear.  I had bought this fabric at Briteks MONTHS ago and just now got around to finally using it. It was up on the 4th floor looking all groovy as the last of its kind. My boyfriend was actually the one that found it. What can I say? He's got great taste.  ;0)  So here is the finished product all lovely and ready to be sold on etsy:

I have also been working on a new background for my blog. It's simple but unique so I hope that it will workout!

Hot Pink And Zebra Print Coin Purse

Hello again! I know it's been forever since I've posted anything! I'm back and will be posting more and more I promise :0) It's the beggining of September and I've decided now is the time to start making and purchasing Christmas gifts.  Last year was cutting it close with rent and bills and I wasn't able to buy as much as I wanted to for all my loved ones. So this year I've decided I will start early and try to sell a duplicate of each gift that I make. GENIUS! (In theory anyway.) We shall see if it actually works.

In other news a future customer in Whales will be purchasing her custom wedding dress from me.  It is my first wedding dress and I couldn't be more thrilled about it!  Of course there will be pictures to follow.

My halloween costume is coming along amazingly. I think it will give last year's costume (Oprah Winfrey, complete with Steadman) a run for it's money.

I also just finished a coin purse that will be given as a gift to my sister for her birthday. (I am banking on the fact that she does not check my blog. Sad but true.) Anyway it's most definitely her style and I have decided to start my one for sale, one for gift, policy with this...

 

It was my first time using a clasp liek this so I am happy with the results considering...

 

Oh and how can I forget...after the drama of my Singer shatting upon itself, I have a new sewing machine.  My boyfriend bought me my first Brother as a birthday gift this year. I did have to turn a year older but the new sewing machine eased the pain a bit...as well as The Red Hot Chile Peppers in Concert.

 

Oh and here is a picture of the adorable birthday boy in his racecar driver getup.  I don't want to brag but I eyballed the size since he is so tall and nailed it! Perfect fit!

Race Car Driver Costume

Well it's almost my favorite soon to be 6-year-old's birthday. Of course he loves cars and so I made him a personalized racecar driver costume.  Hopefully it fits him perfectly and he can come with us on a go-cart test drive :0).  Can't wait to see the little guy's face.



Cinderella Costume Ballgown

A few weeks back, my boyfriend and I were thrifting around town. I found this formal blue dress, which I'm guessing was a former bridesmaid's dress.  It reminded me of Cinderella's ballgown. I tried it on and it fit perfectly, except for the length. All it needed was a few alterations to get 100% there. I purchased a few yards of sheer white fabric and attached some poofy sleeves for maximum princessness.  I added some more fabric just underneath the waist band and kept the bow and rhinestones visible. The tiara and "glass slippers" are accessories I like to keep on hand for any princess related activities I may need to attend.  I also live near a park that happens to have a pumpkin carriage. I thought it only right to include it in my photoshoot.  I wanted the picture to look like a storybook, but I'm not happy with the results. Next time I guess...

Nautical Maxi Dress

Does it count if it's a wee bit shorter than your average maxi dress? Well I got this fabric at Briteks! I made this design myself and it's nautical because it has a rope belt accessory. Yes I will be emailing it to Briteks.

I made these summer time clothes for 2 little cousins I know. I just thought it would be a fun idea to have matching outfits. :0)

Maternity Portraits

I took some maternity portraits a few weeks back. I've even finished editing them before the baby arrives.  This family owns a dairy and loves their western photos. The baby has an adorable nursery perfect for any cowboy.  We took some pictures in his room as well as outside by the barn and the grass. Looks like they're ready to become parents!

 Oh and of course we had to take one with the cat.

New Summer Dress

I know I've been gone awhile. My sewing machine was not cooperating for awhile but now it's back to normal so I'm back to sewing. I will be going to San Diego for vacation soon and so I have been inspired to sew some beach themed summer dresses...or at least things I would wear on the beach in summer.  I used a pattern for this dress and I actually bought it for the alternated version of the dress, but when I saw this fabric I knew I wanted to use it for this other dress instead. It actually has boning in the bodice which I wasn't counting on, at least for this version. So, it's not as comfortable as I thought it would be, therefore it will pry not make the San Diego trip after all.

I included my bike in the picture because 1. I love it. 2. I rode it to the location (not in the dress) and 3. notice the new basket! And thanks for the photography help Mikey.

Elton John Costume

I was recently invited to a drag party, which was my first and very fun. After much consideration I went as none other than Sir Elton John. I looked at many of his costumes and chose a personal favorite. The costume was worn by Sir Elton when he appeared on "The Muppetts." Here is the inspiration for my costume:

Where the Magic Happens...

I have recently finished organizing my studio space and have decided to share pictures because I am so excited about it!

Let's start with my favorite shall we? I bought this vintage world map and place these super cute colored gem stickers on it. Each one marks at least one sale I've had to that location.  I love seeing the connection I have in other states and countries.

And here we have my sewing machine, dummy, thread shelf etc. You may recognize the banner. :0)

 Everything I have for sale in my shop, is kept here in the spare closet for safe keeping.

 Sewing "stuff" is kept here. Any leftover fabric that I can still use is in that large bin at the bottom. The smaller boxes are next...

 Patterns! It's almost funny to think I thought I could fit all my patterns in that file folder. I don't always use patterns but I do love them.

This little box holds all the things I need to mail sold products: Ribbon, packaging bags, business cards, thank you tags and attachment gems.

 This is a bigger version of that same box. This holds sewing supplies that I may need other than fabric, thread or buttons, a.k.a. the big stuff. (Fusible interfacing, elastic, bias tape, fabric markers etc.)

These are very cool because you can create compartments in whatever size you want. I use it to store the little stuff. (Bobbins, buttons, needles, zipper parts etc.)

 And my trusty sewing basket <3. I keep anti-fray liquid, measuring tape, and fabric marking tools in here.
